About the Forum

IN line with Government policy the Airport has established an AirportTransport Forum (ATF). The objectives of the Forum, as revised and agreed at the meeting of the Forum held on 17th December 2013, are:

  • To facilitate a long term approach to transport planning across East London with a specific focus on London’s Royal Docks
  • To inform the direction of the Airport’s Surface Access Strategy (ASAS)
  • To inform the practical application of the ASAS by contributing to the production of passenger and staff action plans
  • To contribute to a programme of activity that enhances the transportation synergies between the Airport, East London and London’s Royal Docks including engagement with the Canary Wharf Transport Forum, London Chamber of Commerce Transport Group and the Stratford Transport Infrastructure Group
  • To assist in monitoring the progress of the ASAS and associated passenger and staff action plans
  • To promote the environmental benefits that increased use of sustainable transport modes delivers

The structure of the Forum, agreed at the same meeting on 17th December 2013, is as follows:

  • The Forum shall meet twice a year to deliver the Objectives of the Forum
  • Held at the airport, meetings shall last no longer than 2 hours, with agenda and relevant documentation circulated in advance
  • Membership of the Forum will include the following organisations; LCY (to include Strategy, Comms and Operational Leads) ~
    LBN (Senior Transport Planner, Airport Monitoring Officer)
  • Transport for London (to include Strategy and Comms Leads, others invited as required, for example Bus, river access, etc)
  • GLA (Principal Policy Adviser)
  • London Chamber of Commerce (Policy Lead with responsibility for transport)
  • Operator representation – DLR as primary mode, Crossrail to ensure awareness of ongoing activity, Airport Taxi Coordinator
  • LCACC Secretary
  • Airline representative
  • Local representative
  • As appropriate other stakeholders will be invited to attend or to become involved in the delivery of a certain Forum activity

London City's ATF first met on 9th November 1999. Since then there have been eleven further meetings. The minutes of these meetings can be found on the ATF Minutes Page.

The last meeting of the Forum was held on 17th December 2013, at which there was a presentation on the Airport's latest Suface Access Strategy

The next ordinary meeting of the Forum will take place on a date in April/May 2014 - the Airport is to confirm.

Airport Surface Access Strategy

At the meeting of the Airport Transport Forum (ATF) on 17th December 2013 the Airport presented its latest Surface Access Strategy (ASAS)

In line with Government Guidance the objects of the strategy are to:

  • Encourage the use of public transport for journeys to and from the airport (staff and passengers),
  • Offer a choice of efficient public transport,
  • Ensure access for the disabled,
  • Ensure access for employment,
  • Contribute to regeneration.
